Loving Life (4th of July style)

This girl loves to stir-stir-stir...luckily!  She stirs on the floor while I cook dinner.

She's a little splasher...bath time is fun time!

We had a nice 4th of July - as soon as we got up, we ate breakfast and got ready to head over to GranJan & Grandpa's house to watch the parade.  Lucy was happy to see her friends but wasn't all that impressed with the parade.  She wasn't scared - even when the loud firetrucks went by - but she wasn't super excited, either.

Before we left home, she had to say goodbye to the dog...

We found Jared and Nicholas and watched the parade with them...they showed Lucy how you wait for candy!

It was pretty darn hot outside already so she (along with the rest of us) was ready to head back to GranJan & Grandpa's just as soon as the parade ended.

We hung out for a few minutes while everyone else got ready to go to the pool but it was time for Lucy girl to get home and eat lunch and take a nap...after nap it was party time at Grandma & Troy's house!  We went over for a cookout but it was pretty hot...we played inside all day and waited for Troy to cook dinner and bring it back inside to us.  Lucy enjoyed her burger but refused to try much else.  She refused the macaroni salad without even trying it (just like Troy!) and wouldn't even try plain old mac-n-cheese, even though she usually enjoys it.

All day yesterday, Daddy had been telling Lucy she'd get to see Sam that night at his softball game...Lucy loves Sam (even if she acts shy once she sees him) and was getting pretty pumped.  But by the time Lucy and I were finishing dinner (dad had already left to get there early), we were hearing a lot of thunder...no lightning, just lots of thunder.  We were trying to decide what to do...


"Should we go to the game or not?"

...when it started pouring down rain...so we sat at the door and stared at the rain for a bit.  It rained hard!  But soon enough, it was dry again and we decided to head out...

Just recently, Lucy started turning up her hands and shrugging her shoulders in response to questions she does not know the answer to...if Dave leaves the room and I ask, "Where'd daddy go?" she does this...we have no idea where she learned this but it cracks us up every time...

Silly splasher

Lala has really been enjoying her baby pools lately (for around 20 minutes at a time) but it wasn't always that way...in the past, as soon as I put her in the pool, she did her signal for "all done" and she sticks her hands in the air for me to pick her up...
A few weeks ago, I expected much of the same - we were in the backyard and her pool was filled so I put her in with her clothes on (shoes off).  Instead of reaching up to me to be picked up, she reached down and started splashing...then she squatted down (so the bottom of her outfit got wet).  I laughed and asked, "Lucy, are you getting your clothes wet?" and she cracked up and sat all of the way down...

But soon she stood back up and I figured she wanted out...she knew swimming in her clothes wasn't quite right and she was getting a kick out of it...

I got her out and got her outfit off of her so she was just in her soggy, droopy diaper...and she pointed back at the pool...so she got back in...

But it turns out a soggy, droopy diaper wasn't very comfortable...so she pulled it off and handed it to me...this also cracked her up!

She sat in there, relaxing and loving life, looking like she was in a hot tub...
